Regulation no. 1169/2011 absorbs different levels of legal sources and replaces the Directives 2000/13/EC and 90/496/EEC. In Italy, the Regulation should be completed by the provisions of the Legislative Decree no. 109/92 and other provisions that are currently applicable to certain products.

The Regulation will apply as from 13 December 2014 (with the exception of some specific requirements for minced meat, in force since January 2014, and of the nutrition declaration, mandatory as from 13 December 2016).
